✓ Long sleeved, long legged work clothes that cover any exposed skin are recommended when handling the blanket material which is not encased in the plastic sleeve.
✓ Thermablok Aerogel Blanket material should ideally be cut using either a hot knife, electric scissors or even a pair of forged steel straight cut tin snips or similar. The material can be dusty, and it is recommended that standard levels of PPE are observed with gloves, safety glasses, and dust mask be worn when handling material.
✓ Plan and co-ordinate the thermal bridging barrier insulation work to minimize the generation of off-cuts and waste. Re-use thermal bridging barrier off-cuts to the maximum extent possible.
✓ Do not install Thermablok Aerogel products and new finishes over walls that have deteriorated from moisture, insects, etc. Repair unsound walls prior to proceeding. Any textured or damaged walls should be prepared by means of a thin alkaline parge coat to offer a continual and even contact surface area for the aerogel as well as providing a further hostile environment to mould and bacterial growth.
✓ It is also advisable and seen as good practice to treat all existing surfaces with an anti microbial surface wash treatment to eliminate all mould spores.

• Pre-cut lengths in work staging area. Thermablok Aerogel Blanket material should ideally be cut using either a hot knife, electric scissors or even a pair of forged steel straight cut tin snips or similar. Observe handling precautions per the Safety Data Sheet.
• Thermablok Aerogel Blanket material can be adhered in place with an appropriate construction grade adhesive prior to mechanical fixing following the manufacturer’s instructions.
• Appropriate masonry or sheathing fasteners equipped with 1″ (25mm) dia. mushroom caps; spaced 12″ (30.5cm) to 16″ (40 cm) in any direction, can be used to attach the Thermablok Aerogel Blanket Panels and / or Thermablok Aerogel ThermaSlim IWI Board to the prepared parge coated masonry.
• Take care to insure the edges of adjacent sections of Thermablok Aerogel are tightly abutted together.
• Cut Thermablok to fit tightly around windows and doors. Cut flush to edge of framing.
• Thermablok Aerogel Insulation Blanket can be installed directly beneath radiant heat floor systems or conventional insulation materials and finishing floor systems to increase thermal efficiency. Simply roll out and spot tack material into place.
• When installing Thermablok Aerogel Blanket onto an existing concrete slab floor assembly or screed we would also recommend a plastic lining (DPM) is well lapped and taped above and below the insulation. This will prevent the screed coming into contact with the aerogel but will also help mitigate dust and will actually help with the flow of the screed.
